About the Turnbull's

Encouraging, educational, and entertaining are but a few words that describe Bob and Yvonne Turnbull and their speaking and writing ministry.

They are a husband and wife team who for the past 24 years have both traveled thousands of miles and spoken before thousands of people, as well as authored nine books, to give their message of hope and help in building relationships that last.

Their speaking and writing was berthed out of their own personal life experiences. The Turnbulls met in Hawaii where Bob was internationally known as The Chaplain of Waikiki Beach. After building a friendship for three years, they entered into marriage and, like so many, had high expectations but little preparation.

Misunderstandings, selfishness and hurts just kept piling on. During this time they were sharing with others how Christ changes lives, yet wondered why it wasn't working in their own marriage. Frustrated, they cried out to God for help. When they finally totally surrendered to Him, God started a work of restoration and renewal, and turned their marriage of crisis into a marriage of celebration.

Bob and Yvonne then started sharing in their own church the many new areas of life the Lord was teaching them about building God honoring relationships. Based on their own real-life experiences, educational backgrounds, and their deepened commitment to the Lord, they were teaching people how to practically apply the principles of the Bible to their marriage and family, as well as guiding Singles in building relationship skills that will prepare them for marriage.

Bob and Yvonne's unique presentation style has been likened to George Burns and Gracie Allen, as they speak side by side, interacting with one another and with their audience. Add to this their humor and transparency and people feel as though they are sitting in their living room having a personal chat. Bob and Yvonne often teach from real life drama, drawing on Bob's background as a movie and TV actor. They leave a memorable impact as they captivate an audience and challenge them to return home and respond to what God has taught them. All of the Turnbull seminars are personal, practical and positive because of their desire to help change lives for Christ.

For 2 1/2 years, in the 80's, Yvonne was the on-air nutritionist for "The 700 Club" TV Show (CBN)

Bob has experienced thirteen years as a high school and college football and track coach.

In the late 80's they worked with another couple ministering to the professional athletes and the wives of the Dodgers, Angels, Rams and Raiders.

Yvonne has a degree in Counseling Psychology and graduate work in Business Administration and Nutrition.

Bob has a Masters in Journalism and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology.

In the 70's, Bob served as "The Chaplain of Waikiki Beach", a title given to him by Hawaii Governor John Burns. Bob also served nine years with the Honolulu Police Department.

He was also once a professional actor with a credit of nine motion pictures and 41 TV shows, with the more recent ones being "Highway to Heaven," "L.A. Law," "Cagney and Lacey" and "Family Ties."

The Turnbulls live in the Washington, DC area after having lived in Orange County, California, for 15 years. They have a married son, Bob Turnbull the Fifth, and he and his family live in the Atlanta area.

 

What We Believe

WE BELIEVE the Holy Bible to be the infallible, authoritative Word of God, that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were written by human authors, but inerrent in the original writings as it was under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

WE BELIEVE that God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe, and that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who are co-equal.

WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the son of God and is co-equal with the Father. We believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the God the Father, and in His personal return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

WE BELIEVE that man was created in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character, and that man is the supreme object of God's creation. We believe that man sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature.

WE BELIEVE that salvation is a gift from God to man, and that only by believing, accepting and trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness for our sins can we be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God, Who lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, and provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in living a godly life.

WE BELIEVE we were created to exist forever, and that we will exist eternally separated from God by sin in Hell, or in union with God in Heaven through forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of Christian believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
